seven quick takes

1. Jasper has really taken a liking to Casey. Actually, it seems that both boys absolutely adore this little annoying sweet Italian greyhound. Here are a couple of snaps of Little J with C^{dog}. Yes, that is a bagel in between them. How on earth it managed not to be eaten is beyond me.

You can also see Angel in the background.

2. After having done so amazingly well with the boys while Nathan was away, I appear to be falling apart just a little bit. I didn’t sleep well last night (because GUESS WHO ELSE didn’t sleep well) and I have a monster headache this morning. Advil appears to have had no effect. Bah humbug. Complain much? On to happier thoughts…

3. I love the first week of July because I get to celebrate both my home and native land (Canada, July 1) and my adopted homeland (tomorrow). We don’t have any special plans for the fourth… we were invited to some sort of church party, but I think that we are going to be party poopers and not attend because we need to make sure that the boys are asleep BEFORE the neighbours start setting off firecrackers. But I do think that we are going to make chiles rellenos. Mmmmm….

4. If you read Runner’s World, you may have seen the puff piece on Sarah Palin. (And I mean that in the kindest way possible. I like Sarah Palin, but not as much as Rhett does.) You may also have heard the little bit of ‘net talk about how she said she thought she could beat Obama in a (foot)race. Well, why is there any discussion about this? Of course she could beat Obama. The guy’s a smoker. I’m pretty sure I could beat Obama in a race, too. (Come to think of it, I bet I could beat Palin too. Governor, in case this gets back to you, if you’re up for a 10k footrace, I’m game. My son would be apoplectic, with no idea who to cheer for.)

5. I am not totally done with the bathroom yet. To give you an idea of the colour and the theme I am going for, here is a preview:

As you can see, there is still some touch-up work that needs to be done. Also, the light fixture? Can we just talk about the light fixture? I am not sure whether I am utterly horrified by it, or if I think that it looks intentionally retro with the red paint. But isn’t that shower curtain the awesomest?

6. Rhett has been very clingy to me since Daddy was away. Actually, this morning he most definitely wanted to sit on my lap and be cuddled. I think his entire world has been tilted on its axis with the disturbance to the family dynamic. Sunday, the girls return, causing yet another shift (one that he will greet with utter joy). Life in a blended family is never boring.

7. Finally… my husband is totally appalled that I got a Twitter account. I am a little appalled too, and I don’t think that I am using it in the way I am meant to (as you can see by my paltry collection of followers, most of whom I don’t even know). But somehow, the idea of writing these little snippets just suddenly amused me. So now I am doing it almost entirely for my own amusement… and really, what better reason is there to do anything?

Ugh, I need a shower. For more quick takes, please visit Conversion Diary. Byeeee, y’all!!!

  1. Hi! Stopping in via Jen at Conversion Diary. Both baby and puppy are very cute. My husband finds it very silly that I have a Twitter account. But not so much when that Twitter account gives me a tip to a good sports article or some other bit of news.

  2. Love the Curious George. :)

    And Chile Rellenos? mmmmmmmmm

  3. I’m doing the same thing with my twitter account. I know almost NObody on there, so it’s hard for me to get into it. Here’s to one more time-suck on my schedule!

And that curious george wall hanging is so cute! My daughter would love it.
